ABOUT THE ALBUM
With the publication of “Guru child” Tatum Rush closes the first chapter of his original songwriting coming-of-age.
The process started back in 2011 in a cement tower in the remote village of Brunnen, Switzerland, near the obscure Maharishi Mahesh Yogi temple, which was visited by personalities such as The Beatles and David Lynch. Björn Magnusson’s recording studio was filled with old clunky machines and a lingering Auschwitz-coldness rising from the echo chambers down below, but a tropical heat burst into Tatum’s first original recordings. Acid, buzzing guitars, Motown grooves, and a trademark voice evoking rich narratives of vacationing alongside ardent minds and bodies, in the fifty-plus shades of relationships, self-help, sex, and nostalgic daydreams. Seven out of twelve songs were recorded over a more extended period inspired by a long stay in a billionaire’s mango farm in Brazil. These later songs are recognizable by the larger, cleaner, spectrum of sounds and arrangements, and an ambiguously humorous songwriting style. Here Tatum looks for that poetic artificiality one can sometimes find, surprisingly, in those shiny luxury resorts.
The diversity of this collection will bring you on a journey from analog to digital, from poetry to tabloids, from sincere fragility to cos- mic confidence. Only the first chapter, the second one is already on his way...
The album was produced by Tatum Rush, Björn Magnusson, and Zeno Gabaglio in different locations. Mixed by Björn Magnusson at TURM studios. Mastered by Paul Gold, Brooklyn NY.
ABOUT TATUM RUSH
Born in San Diego, raised between Italy and Switzerland, Tatum Rush had an early start playing jazz guitar in after-work wine bars.
Today he is the deliverer of a Soulful and multi-layered original repertoire of soon-to-be hits.
Accompanied by a perturbing yet sexy stage persona, his music incorporates the sensual machism of R&B and the campiness of a gay-ish karaoke superstar at the same time. Cosmopolitan refrains, neo-soulful grooves, and a party-freak live show that could fit in an underground New York noise-club as well as on the rooftop party of a 6 star Kempinski hotel in Dubai.
Multi-instrumentalist and producer, Tatum Rush records everything himself. During his late-night live shows he is escorted on stage by virtuoso drummers such as Domi Chansorn and Luca Marini and by a trail of dancing ex- otic young geishas, all exhibitionists in the most noble artistic sense of the term.
Tatum Rush constantly collaborates with diverse artists from numerous disciplines. He toured Europe twice playing bass in the rock band Great Black Waters (Björn Magnusson)
